Mon 26 Oct 2015 15:30 - 15:40 at Ellwood 1 - Session 4 Chair(s): Eli Tilevich

Software engineering is to be practiced beyond the classroom, by professionals in their workplaces. While there is value in teaching its techniques to undergraduate students, there is more value in transferring more effective techniques to software developers. But the Chilean software industry rarely adopts new practices, and software projects suffer from delays, exceeded budgets and poor quality. The Department of Computer Science’s software engineering group at P. Universidad Católica de Chile has made several efforts to transfer good practices to software development organisations. In this presentation, we highlight the lessons we have learnt and the challenges we face when transferring practices as an educational process.
